While you are more than welcome to join at any time, we are beginning a new, dedicated run/walk program starting on October 1, 2024 at 6:00 a.m. at the Circle C Swim Center.
This program is designed for those who are new to running or making a return to running. The Striders is a fun and supportive group who will be with you every step of the way. The Striders focuses on a run/walk methodology that allows its participants to enjoy running while avoiding fatigue, injury, or burnout.
THROUGHOUT THIS PROGRAM YOU CAN EXPECT TO:
Learn the basics: such as proper form, shoes, attire, runner safety, injury prevention, run/walk ratios, pacing, and common terms.
Establish and maintain goals: your journey is YOUR journey. Whether it's to just get outdoors and enjoy the fresh air, lower your blood pressure, lose weight, meet new friends, the Striders will help you achieve your goals.
Be a part of a fun and supportive group: you will be among a group of like-minded people who are on a similar journey as you. We support and encourage each other, and we hold each other accountable.
Build strength, stamina, and confidence: you will be amazed at how quickly you will start to feel better physically and emotionally. It won't happen overnight, but it will happen if you keep showing up and give yourself permission to improve. Consistency is key.
The Striders are led by J'Lane Spence, a lifelong runner, founding member of the Circle C Run Club, and is Run Lead certified by the Road Runners Club of America. There are no physical prerequisites to join. Your pace and/or experience level does not matter. Any and everyone is welcome to join and participate. Always consult your physician before beginning any exercise program. The Circle C Run Club is an Austin Runners Club affiliated run group. In accordance with the Austin Runners Club guidelines, we are required to have all participants acknowledge a waiver. If you choose to participate in our group runs or other activities please click here to electronically sign the waiver.
